Marc Jacobs Disregards Age Restriction, Utilizes 14-Year-Old Runway Models

While his fall 2012 collection receives praise, Marc Jacobs is here under fire after opting to utilize two 14-year-old models as part of his show Monday.

Marc Jacobs sent 14-year-old Ford models Thairine Garcia and Ondria Hardin, pictured above, around the runway, inspite of the 16-year-old age limit suggested through the Council of favor Designers for America (CFDA).

Marc Jacobs, who sits around the board with the CFDA, told The newest York Times: "I perform show just how I think it must be, and not the best way somebody informs me it should be."
After comparing these phones child actors, he explained: "If their parents are able to let them execute a show, I do not see any reason why it should be me who tells them they can't."

The women have appeared in Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire and Elle magazines.
This comes a couple of days after Ford denied pledging to utilize models who had been over 16-years-old, despite a news release in the CFDA last month that claimed otherwise.
Inside a statement released Wednesday, Ford said, "While we accept many of the guidelines the CFDA is working towards, we didn't sign on using this initiative."

The statement continued, "We are sorry to the confusion and apologize because of not clearing it right away in the event it was announced. We make age and maturity individuals models very seriously. We develop a case-by-case basis alongside a prospective model's parents to generate a determination as to if they are prepared to walk the runway. In many instances, the answer is no. But a limited number demonstrate the know-how and maturity which can be necessary to work sooner than they otherwise would."

Some believe that the large, fluffy hats and over-sized clothes Marc Jacobs sent along the runway didn't warrant breaking CFDA guidelines, once the model's faces were barely recognizable amid the material.
